Position: Estimator / QS

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 +Package

 

KMC are working on behalf of a Civil Engineering Contractor located in the North West with an annual turnover of £5M who are looking for an Estimator / QS to join them and play an integral part in their current expansion plans and be involved with projects across all sectors of the Civil Engineering sector from Infrastructure and Utilities to Groundworks for Housebuilders.

 

The Role:

This role is aimed at an Estimator / Quantity Surveyor with around 10 years experience, primarily in the Civil Engineering Sector ideally.

Your role will include:

You will be working alongside the existing Estimator and will be responsible for incorporating standard surveying duties from the production of enquiries, through to placing of orders, account valuation and final account agreement. Your other roles and responsibilities will include but not limited to:

·Managing multiple projects at once including pre-tender involvement.

·Present in a professional manner at all times including dress code.

·Ensuring that the financial aspects and impact of a contract are clear to management

·Providing detailed financial reports ie budget monitoring, cost & value etc.

·Work closely on a daily basis to ensure real time report to the Accounts department.

·Accurate cost reporting & valuations for a variety of contracts.

·Manage all costs relating from building, utilities, plant hire to civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures.

·Ensure the maintenance of audible records relating to all relevant aspects of the company’s operations, including those pertinent to specific projects.

·maintain responsibility for the management of all‘physical works’ contracts and projects, including plant and labour supply.

·Manage, monitor and review all aspects of ‘physical works contracts and project management’ under your control, such that the on-going progress of the contract or project’ taken on is in accordance with those required, including agreed timescale cost.

·Ensure the effective planning, management and performance of all
projects under your control in accordance with client requirements and current legislation and industry standards.

·Assisting in establishing a client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies

·Performing risk and value management to cost control

·Identifying, analysing and developing responses including commercial risks

·Resource, provide and support suitable and competent staff/ equipment in accordance with the project requirement.

·Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports;

·Devise accurate, efficient commercial systems in a bid to support and improve current structure.

·Meet all deadlines in a proactive and forthcoming manner to include all internal weekly/monthly commercial reporting meetings.

·Weekly report meetings with senior management on current tenders, projects won to ensure an accurate project forecast is in place.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

Candidates will ideally have around 10 years’ experience in an Estimating capacity, the majority of which spent within a Civil Engineering environment.

Preferably but not essentially will be educated to Degree level in a relevant discipline and will ideally have SMSTS and CSCS Competency.

With a good level of knowledge of Contractual Law (NEC 3 would be beneficial)

Full UK Driving Licence required

You should be proficient in all Microsoft office including pricing packages eg Valesco and Construction Lite for project planning.
