KMC’s Client are a well-established civils engineering company specialising in All Civil Works, Building/Extensions ,Utilities ,Concrete Structures and other services.

Due to expansions they have several positions they are looking to fill including this Health Safety & Training Manager who will be reporting to the Director.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities (Duties):

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

·   Develop strategy and 'vision' for SHE Performance

·  Have 'fresh ideas' and be able to impart these to stakeholders to engage them with HS&E issues

·   Delivering cost effective and innovative Health, Safety, Environmental  & Quality solutions

 for Civils and Utilities projects

·   Production & review of policies and procedures, including Company Health & Safety Policy

·   Production of suitable & sufficient safe systems of work for all activities

·   Involvement with industry safety programmes / initiatives

·   Develop and improve HS&E standards on all projects

·   Maintenance of third party Health & Safety Accreditations including Constructionline,   CHAS, Achilles UVDB & Link-up

·   Attainment of additional third party Health & Safety Accreditations as required

·   Client liaison as required

·   Preparation of PQQs and attendance at Client interviews as required for the purpose of securing work

·   Supporting the Directors in the management of HS&E within the Company

·   Providing competent health & safety advice to Directors and workforce

·   Overall Management of SHEQ systems, including internal audits and compliance against
OHSAS 18001, ISO9001 & ISO14001

·   Management of SHEQ team, mentoring SHEQ team members

·   Investigation and report near misses, accidents & incidents to allow lessons to be learned. Keep up to date records of all reportable accidents and incidents.

 

·   Advise and assist in the preparation of company health & safety procedures/project safety
 plans/ method statements, and ensure that reviews and updates are carried out as required.

·   Regular comprehensive HS&E inspections of all workplaces necessary to ensure the Group's Health & Safety Policy is being adhered to. Prepare reports for management and project staff

·   Enforce legislation & strategic implementation of innovative H&S Systems.

·   Initiate and maintain measures to improve the Group's safety recording and communication, e.g. Health & Safety alerts and bulletins

·   Short duration training including HS&E inductions and briefings

·   Produce and compile data relating to accidents, near misses & HSE intervention to allow lessons to be learned, and communicate findings to Directors & senior staff

·   Monitor, maintain and ensure the adequate training needs of the workforce are met. Company training matrix to be monitored and audited as per the procedure. Carry out formal training reviews on an annual basis or project requirement changes, whichever is sooner.

·   Monitoring and review of training needs throughout the organisation

·   Compilation of data into greenhouse gas emissions and management of environmental issues

·   OHS & Plant Training

·   Develop and maintain all training related documentation as required to deliver to the relevant course standards.

·   Facilitate monthly HS&E meetings

·   Manage and instruct staff whom report to you

·   Liaise with enforcement authorities (HSE, Environmental Agencies etc,

3.         Qualifications and Experience (Required):

Academic Qualifications Required:

·   Minimum Grad. IOSH. Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) desirable

Selection of construction related Health & Safety courses, e.g.

First Aid

Safety in excavations

Quick-hitch awareness

Street works Supervisor

Confined Space

Work at Height

Fire safety

Plant

Asbestos Awareness

Manual Handling Awareness

 

·   Able to work comfortably in a demanding, high pressure environment

·   Ability to analyse potentially complex and difficult situations and recommend appropriate, practical and responsive solutions in a sensitive manner

·   High standard of presentation skills

·   Ability to communicate SHEQ information efficiently and effectively at all levels

Experience Level(s) Required:

Essential:

·      Experience of managing health and safety at a senior/middle management level

·      Civil Engineering experience

·      Excellent interpersonal skills

·      Management and administration skills, computer literacy

 

Desirable:

Rail experience

Environmental Qualification
